Frank's Cottages Open Garden
Tony Gunton and Pat Allen are generously opening their organic garden – a wildlife garden in the Metropolitan Green Belt near Upminster.
Frank's Cottages boasts A half-acre garden with a wild flower meadow, a large natural pond, an orchard cum apiary and a living roof over two sheds, plus conventional garden features such as flower and shrub borders and a vegetable plot. Native flowers and trees are an important (but not exclusive) feature. The garden has been managed organically and for wildlife for more than 30 years.
Garden open days are Sundays only - 23rd & 30th July and 6th August, from 12 midday - 6pm each day.
£3 admission on July 30th (organised by Essex Wildlife Trust); on other days donations requested, to be split between Garden Organic and Essex Wildlife Trust.
There are toilet facilities, as well as refreshments, plant and honey sales. There is level access to the garden from the gravel front, but please note some uneven paths in the garden.
The garden is located at: 8 Frank’s Cottages, St Mary’s Lane, Upminster RM14 3NU. On St Mary’s Lane (B187) between Upminster and the M25, opposite the golf course (g/r TQ 5856 8700) – park in front of the house (disabled access only July 30th) or at Young's Farm Shop (100m towards Upminster).
Alternatively a short taxi ride from Upminster tube/rail station.
